Two of Ghana’s finest and hottest movie acts Nadia Buari and Majid Michel have been named to headline this year’s AY Live Show scheduled for May 1 – Workers Day – in Nigeria.

The two are part of a long list of Nigerian and international acts who will grace what has been tagged as biggest night of Nigerian comedy.

The event comes off at the world-class 6,000 capacity New Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

Radio and entertainment personality, Kofi Okyere Darko known in showbiz as KOD, has said he anticipates featuring in more movies after annexing a role in Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s latest work, Adams Apples.

 The Copyright Office Antipiracy Team, in collaboration with the Police Striking Force Unit, on Monday evening arrested three persons suspected for dealing in pirated musical works and movies at their hideout at Mallam Junction.

A music producer arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine has expelled about 80 pellets of the narcotic contraband. 

Officials of the Narcotics Control Board say Sam Sarfo Kantanka claims to have swallowed 96 of the pellets.

One OF Ghana’s reggae artistes, Shasha Marley, has once again proven that he is a force to reckon with in Africa as far as reggae music is concerned.

This he did by emerging the Best African Reggae Artiste of The Year at the KORA All Africa Music Awards held in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso, on Easter Sunday.

The event, which attracted over 3,000 showbiz personalities from various African countries, was hosted by the President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore, at the plush Palaise De Sports in Ouagadougo.

Music producer and singer, Gabriel Oche-Amanyi, famously known as Terry G, has been arrested by authorities of the Lagos State Police Command over his refusal to refund the money he collected from the Students' Union Government of the University of Benin.

He was arrested at about 12noon yesterday and was later released around 8pm the same day after he had signed an undertaking to pay the money latest by Tuesday, next week.

Tanzanians and East Africans living in Ireland will tonight get a rare taste of  Bongo Flava at a gig by TOP band’s lead singer TID aka Khalid Mohammed featuring UK-based Bongo Flava artiste Solo Thang. 

This will be the first time for any Bongo Flava artiste and TID to perform in Ireland.

 Los Angeles — A new musical collaboration between artists representing Ghana, Uganda and the US has resulted in the creation of A.R.M., also known as African Rebel Movement or African Rebel Music.

The project brings together emcees (M.anifest and Krukid) and a producer (Budo) for in way that blends the skills of all three artists.

The trio joined forces in 2008 and are set to release their first album which incorporates the lyrical talent of Krukid and M.anifest over Budo's soul, afro-beat and hip-hop inspired sounds.

A WOMAN billed as a royal on hit show Undercover Princesses has been slammed by a member of the Ugandan royal family.

Sheillah Nvannungi, 31, is described as a princess in Buganda - a kingdom in Uganda - in the BBC3 show, which aims to pair-up lovelorn foreign royals with Brits.

 Harare — Over 30 artistes, including Jamaican reggae star Sizzla, are billed to perform at the 21st February Movement Gala to be held at the Zimbabwe Trade Fair Grounds in Bulawayo tomorrow.

The gala, which is expected to attract more than 15 000 youths from across the country, will be broadcast live on ZTV.

Sizzla arrives in Harare mid-morning today and fans are invited to welcome him at the Harare International Airport.

Other international groups that will perform are Beaux and Real Sounds (DRC), and Mzwake Mbuli and Soul Brothers (South Africa).

The last time Tony was heard of was in the last quarter of 2009 when he was said to have celebrated a decade-year of his singing career.

 The official launch of the Nima Based hiplife group VIP’s (Vision In Progress) new album titled: “Progress” at the Boomerang Night Club, at Caprice in Accra, on Saturday February 13, was graced with total black out.

The power cut which affected several parts of the capital, started at about 1:15am Sunday morning when the Night Club was packed with hundreds of people still queued outside to enter. During the power cut and intense heat in the club, the only source of light was mobile phones. 

There seems to be no end in sight to the controversy sparked by Obrafour’s hit comeback song, ‘Kasiebo’. After several studio replies from various artists, the new controversy is coming from a reply that was never released. A couple of weeks ago, Yaw Sakyi, the host of TV Africa’s ‘The Rundown’, announced that Quata was in the studio with Okyeame Kwame working on a reply for Obrafour.

 Reasons were given as to who is killing the game but no one realized that the music engineers were also part of the reason the industry dwindled.

When the whole controversy surrounding Obrafour’s hit song ‘Kasiebo’ started the hiplife grandpapa, Reggie Rockstone’s initial comments were that such developments are healthy for competition and the industry on a whole.

However a recent video insert on TV Africa’s ‘The Rundown’ with Reggie answering questions about the rise in ‘beefing’, seems to suggest that the hiplife originator may have had enough of it already.

The never shy of controversy, Kwaw Kesse has taken a jab at fellow hiplife artist, Asem for what he perceives as an attack on him. Asked by Yaw Sakyi, the host of the Rundown on TV Africa whether he (Kwaw) has any beef with Asem, Kwaw replied in the affirmative adding that as a ‘general’ he could tell when a missile was directed at him.
